Battle Chef Brigade Review
Manyland not blocked. Jan 27, 2018 Trinket Studios’ Battle Chef Brigade (2017) is probably the most fun I’ve ever had cookingever. In a game that combines both side-scrolling brawlers with quick-paced Match-3 puzzles, Battle Chef Brigade takes a new perspective into what daily life could mean for a society populated with Dungeons & Dragons archetypes.
Posted: 20 AprilThis is a really great game. I own it on Steam and Nintendo Switch (My playtime on Switch is MUCH higher than my Steam playtime). It's basically an addicting, intense, anime, cooking competition game.(TL;DR at bottom)Each match starts off with you being introduced to the judges and their preferred element(fire, water, earth), the time limit you will be racing against, and the round's theme monster. You must then start hunting monsters to stock up your pantry.
Once you have enough ingredients, you have to rush back to the kitchen to start preparing a dish for each judge. Each dish should contain at least one ingredient from the theme monster, and should contain a majority of the preferred flavor gems for the intended judge. You are allowed at any time to run back outside to fight more monsters if you run out of ingredients or need a specific ingredient. Once you are finished with a dish, deliver each one to the dish's intended judge. Once the time is up or both contestants are finished, the judges score each dish and the winner is the contestant with the highest score. The hunting part of the game consists of lite 2D action platformer elements.
Each playable character has different powers/skills. While the combat is quick and pretty basic with a few combo moves, it is pretty fun and addicting especially in multiplayer when you and a friend are fighting each other for ingredients. The main part of the game, the cooking, is a simple match 3 style minigame. There are 3 different gems that can be leveled up by matching 3 of the same kind (up to level 3). Ingredients selected from your pantry are dropped onto the board.
The more leveled up gems in the dish, the higher your score will be. You get extra points for having more of a gem that matches a judges favorite. When you start running out of gems to match together, you can open the pantry and drop in more ingredients. There are also mechanics such as bone ingredients, poison, and cracked gems that can change up the game a bit.The story is pretty simple but enjoyable and it can be finished in about 8 hours. As the story goes on, it introduces new mechanics and you can earn new cookware and relics you can use to create a loadout that can fit your playstyle or strategy.
The adventures of fatman. (All cookware and relics are unlocked for local pvp and freeplay modes).Multiplayer is local splitscreen only (Remote play together fixes that). Players can compete against each other in matches that can be customized before playing.
