Hi, I just bought Sims Castaway Stories from eBay and I can get the disk to say it installed the game, but it does not appear on my desktop or in my start menu. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. Is there something I have to do or download to get the disk to play on Windows 10?

Essential mods for Castaway StoriesYay, a new forum! As you all may know, Castaway Stories, unlike other TS2 games, has almost no cheat codes included (apart from motherlode, kaching, 45angleOfRotation, unlock build/buy and tiny other ones). The reason behind this is because EA wanted to make TSCS more laptop-friendly game.To be honest, I don't see any sense in all this.
Many mods that I have currently installed help me to bring back (to a certain point) all the cheats from TS2. Also, why remove cheats which were very useful when dealing with bugs in TS2 (such as moveObjects) and many house decorating and landscaping cheats (such as CFE). And don't even get me started on TCE, which I will cover later on.Luckily for us, EA didn't remove the ability for the game to read custom content. That is, almost any CC mods/hair/clothes/makeup made for 'up2BV' will work (YMMV).
I decided to make this thread to help all the people who experience glitches in their game - most of the glitches are fairly easy to resolve with proper custom content. Here's the list of mods I have in my 'Critical' folder:- very helpful tool made by Pescado. I mostly use it to remove trash memories (Mystery Sim, Met Sim, Moved Out/In.) and gossip. I tend to edit my Sims' memories in quite often, and before you edit a memory, it's good that no other Sim has a 'gossip' about that memory. I also use it to edit townies' appearances.Ghosts Can't Trash Graves - I'm not quite sure where did I get this mod from, anyone got a link?
I believe it's also from MATY. (I also tend to name my mods in a descriptive way, so the mod may have a different name.) Basically, ghosts can sometimes get angry. When they do, they 'haunt' random objects by jumping into them and then breaking them. Same thing can happen to graves they haunt. But no one wants a broken grave, since that (and many other things) can cause a. (Neighborhood = island.)- also a mod related to gossip and prevention of neighborhood corruption.
Sims tend to gossip a lot. When they do, they can gossip about a Sim that may got corrupted somehow and is dead for long time now. If they gossip like that, you'll see squigly lines in their speech bubbles, which are an indicator of neighborhood corruption. This mod prevents this kind of gossip.- helps minimize damage when a grave gets corrupted. Also, prevents character 'unlinkage' (≈ corruption) when you delete a grave.
In TSCS, you can't move graves to another lot, and if you don't want ghosts on your lot, this mod + deleting graves is your only option (though, I wouldn't recommend you to delete graves).- prevents 'Met Sim, Moved In/Out, Mystery Sim' type of memories from being created. Those types of memories just spam Sims' memory lists.- adds a special option when you click on a ghost; you get to choose whether the ghost will scare everyone, just knowledge Sims or no one at all (I usually pick the last one). I use the Pets & Higher version.- I use the Spawn Tweaks module, because it disables child/toddler ghosts from spawning (because their walking animation is corrupt or missing).- made by me. It's mostly the same thing as Tarlia's fixed templates, only mine are made for CS neighborhoods.Carrigon's mods: (because seems to be down at the time of writing)Her official site, seems to be down for quite a while now. I managed to find her mods in one of my old archives,.
The thing is, I'd been tinkering with those mods. If you downloaded her mods from my sfs, and they happen to cause you errors; sorry, you're on your own. Try going to Carrigon's site first before using mine as a last resort.
I've never intended to share these; doing it simply because her site's down.Golden Spider - the object provides the same functions as Vincent's Sim Modder, such as age up/down, manage motives/relationships/skills/personality points etc.No Selfgreeting Visitors - prevents visitors from bursting into your house uninvited. Without the mod, the only way to prevent visitors from entering your house when uninvited was to place a terrifying totem (or something like that). Though I'm not exactly sure how that thing worked.Testing Cheats! - there's no need for typing in boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true (actually, it doesn't even work) - with this mod, you'll find most of the 'shift+click' Sim pie options now located under 'normal click' 'More.' And that's about it. Of course, I have many other hacks that just add features or remove annoyances, but I don't think they're needed in this thread. What type of mods do you have in the game, that help you deal with all the bugs?Oh, and just a side note, don't add any mods to your game (apart from those 'features/annoyances' types), because they can mess up your story part of the game.
Add them once you've finished the story.
